Sture's Backyard Walk

Well, I have spent the last couple of days getting things organized for my course in terms of presentation venue, etc. I had a hard time sleeping the other night, but last night was much better. Anyway Sture was kind enough to give me a walk that started 20 m from his backyard. Here are some picture from that walk.

Here is a lovely small pond on our way up the hill. Sture says they do not have mosquito problem. It must be because they cannot survive the winter.

This small granite outcropping is a reminder that there is a lot of exposed granite on the Swedish landscape as a result of the glacial action of the last ice age.

There are blueberries everywhere, along with other kinds of edible berries such as landsberries? and Swedish cranberries. Part of Swedish etiquette is to know how to get the blueberry juice off of your hands to keep it from staining your clothes.

Here's a nice part of the path through the woods.

The moss/lichen is everywhere in the woods.

It seems like heather is the same everywhere. But it still looks nice.

I can't stop Sture from gathering mushrooms.

This is a granite formation over which there used to be a small waterfall in the last ice age.

This hole was made by a trapped rock spun around by the river that used to run here during the last ice age. We found it on top of the granite bluff depicted above.
